How can hypnosis cure depression?

and what really causes depression??

unresolved emotions of anger, guilt, trauma, jealousy, etc?

how does remember past events and having them explained help a person to recover?

would you say it is similar to unraveling a ball of string?

and how does one get the person to "relax" enough in order to remember these emotions and once one does are they still relaxed , though very emotional?

why and how so?

Thanks for your answers!

SO many questions! I’ll make an attempt to answer, but it will take a large number of responses to give you a rounded picture. As to causes ,you have an accurate listing ,except for brain chemistry, which is a possible cause of clinical depression.
More like a bunch of tight knots ,rather than an easily unraveled ball of string. Relaxation is achieved by a trust of therapist ,and with the
non-judgemental listening provided. After the therapist has brought the patient the skills to use relaxation methods ,they can dealve into the source of the depression together and make true progress, The patient can develop a rational view of the problem, and not allow emotions to cause panic, guilt or fear. The fact that a person seeks help makes them amenable to the therapist’s treatment. In my case,I
needed drugs to put me in a state of mind to be receptive to help.
It worked, and I am fine-neither high, low ,or unsure of myself.

    Hey there!

I’m sorry to say this, but I do not believe there is a "cure" for depression. It is something that stays with you but you just get better at dealing with it. There are things that help, but it will never completely go away.

I suffer from it, so does my mum and my nan.

If it’s in you, it’s part of you unfortuately.

Try hypnosis, but I shouldn’t expect a cure!

    Good luck! x

hypnosis is a treatment which puts you into a deep sleep or a relaxed state of mind where the therapist can supposedly interact with your sub conscious mind and tel it how to work best for your body. i.e cut out depresive states and channels you back to happy times and good memories.

so many things can cause depression, trauma definitley and it can be side affects of panic attacks and things like that.

these past events can trigger your mind into thinking that not all is bad and you do have the power to be happy.

    thats all i know.

I think all the things you mentioned can cause or add to depression, especially anger which is turned onto ourselves. Don’t forget the chemical component, too, which is what drugs like Prozac address.

By looking at past traumas and talking them other with a therapist, you take away some of the experience’s power over you and your subconscious. A therapist doesn’t explain it TO you; you two discover and analyze it together. You are not the same person you were in the past; you may see things in a whole different light in the present.

I suppose it is like unraveling a ball of string; you are unraveling the past and its associations.

A good hypnotist/therapist can teach you how to relax; it’s a lot like meditation in that you clear your mind. As far as the emotions fighting with being relaxed, let the therapist handle that. They know how.

During hypnosis you are actually focused inward. You can allow yourself to make connections with your subconscious.

And, BTW, be certain that you are dealing with a professional therapist when allowing yourself to be hypnotized. Hypnosis is a powerful tool and you have to respect it. No stage hypnotists!

Depression is a draining emotion that robs you of the joy in life. You owe it to yourself to fight it and use everything you can to beat it. I suffered terribly from a deep depression since I was a teenager. Therapy gave me my life back. Depression can be cured.

One last thing: One must eat well and sleep well to be well.

    Life is beautiful.

    Take care.
