Have you bothered to see a therapist at all? i know what you are going thru and you probably can't afford to seek help if you don't have insurance, job, etc.. My parents thought i was lazy also, didn't believe my anxiety, no on undestand you unless they go through it themselves. I'm sorry you have to go through this on your own but don't sweat it, people here is willing to help you, well i am. I've answered a lot of questions regarding anxiety, check them out.

OMG mid twenties, thats why i first experienced anxiety, wow you had it as a kid! That's horrible. You should definitely seek professional help if you blame your childhood for your problems. That's something that will have to be dealt with professionaly unless you are willing to let go of the past on your own. Dreading on things you can not change does you no good. No point really. I had to learn the same thing myself. It's not necessary to seek professional help if you are strong enough to do this on your own and quit feeling sorry for yourself. I would love to help you but you are very vague when explaining your situation and i don't wanna waste time typing.
I took a month and half off work, couldnt leave my room, no TV or any noise, no going out, no nothing for me. So i know your feelings. But I had to stop feeling sorry for myself, get out of the depression, let go of the past, that's why it's called the present, toda is a gift, you're given the chance to start fresh, start all over, forget the childhood, you can't change it.They say what does'nt kill you will only make you stronger.

This is what helped me everday. I forced myself to get out of bed and walk around the block if possible. it was hard but you have to try. being out in nature is the best healing for anyone. Find a close friend or relative who understand your situation and can help you get out of the house. Go to the park, beach, anywhere that makes you feel comfortable. You can do it. You can do anything you want. No one is keeping you prisoner. Millions of people would die to be in your shoes today. Take advantage of your situation and LIVE!

As i said earlier, you can do this w/o drugs. I did. I was prescribed drugs but i threw them away. Why do I need chemicals to alter my brain when i have the power to do them on my own. Don't be weak. Don't let anxiety or depression take over your life. You should be the one controlling your feelings and emotions. Don't be lazy! Turning to drugs is just telling yourself that you can't handle it on your own but you can! Besides, the side effects aint worth it after the horrible stories i've read online. Do your research before taking ANY drugs. Don't hesitate to email for any questions or support. :)

Good Luck! in the mean time, practice deep breathing exercieses if any attack comes. helps preventing them.
References :
Honey, it's not your fault. You should go see someone, like a psychiatrist. You are definitely not alone, and they are trained to help people with your symptoms exactly. You can talk about medications, and maybe even avoid them altogether with counseling. In the end, if some medications make it possible for you to have a normal, satisfying life, you should consider using them. You don't sound happy as you are.

Your paretns really should be more understanding. Depression, anxiety, these are very real. People undermining telling you to "just get better" are... well, they are your parents, so I'll tone down what I think about it. They are making the sitation worse.

My mother was clinically depressed, and people kept telling her to just try harder. That is like telling a cancer patient to give up treatment, and just wish away the cancer. When you are sick, you need treatment and encouragement.

Get the help you need. And don't be ashamed- we all have our problems, and like I said before, yours is a very common one.

Good luck girl!
References :
If you're looking for a non-medication approach the only thing there is is counseling. Not using medication, honestly, doesn't give you very good odds of getting better. A combination of medication and counseling is the best way to treat these things. Especially panic attacks which will be vastly improved by adivan or a similar drug to take when you feel one coming on.

As for herbs and elixirs there's no evidence that any of them work. St. John's wart needs the chemical to be refined from the plant and put into a drug form to be effective. No 'naturalist' company has the facilities required to do this, nor are they interested in it as it would reduce the profit margin they get from selling raw ingredients. This is how almost all medications were created, actually, and anything that is strong enough to effect your body positively will have side-effects.
